The DubEye Sunday Roast: McCaffertys JVC

When it comes to a Sunday roast in Dubai, there’s only one place to start, and it has to be in JVC. McCafferty’s opened in Circle Mall just over a year ago and has already developed into one of the best bars in Dubai. The traditional Irish-style pub features a mouth-watering menu throughout the week but on Sunday afternoons, the people of Dubai flock to JVC for their famous Sunday roast.

At just 100dhs, guests can enjoy freshly made soup, a huge plate from the carvery and a traditional dessert. With only one trip to the carvery allowed per person, though, expect to see plates piled high with everything from mashed potatoes to Yorkshire puddings. As well as the traditional roast meats, McCafferty’s also offers plant-based ‘meat’, so whatever your preference, you’ll find what you’re looking for here.

Once you’ve finished your meal, it’s time to kick back and relax in the cosy surroundings of the traditional Irish pub. If sport is your thing, you can find plenty of it here, with all major sporting events, including GAA, shown on the various TVs around the bar. Music lovers will also feel at home with live music throughout the day and into the night (Ginger Trad is a personal favourite of ours!) Happy Hour runs from 12 pm-8 pm on a Sunday with an extensive menu featuring draft beer, spirits, bubbles and cocktails.

The bar itself isn’t your stereotypical Irish pub abroad. McCafferty’s has gone the extra mile to ensure it feels authentic, and you do feel like you’re in Ireland once you step through the door. The bar layout has something for everyone, with snugs, large open floor areas and a spacious outdoor beer garden featuring a huge screen and stage with live music in between and after your favourite sporting events.
