Dubai World Cup Carnival Preview: Week 3

January 20, 2023

Our man Cathal McHugh shot the lights out seven days ago, tipping a well-backed winner from the George Boughey stable and a 50/1 second with a Turkish-trained horse! Can he repeat the dose this time around?

Cathal has two selections again this week and starts in the first race at 6pm, the Big Easy Arabian Sprint Championship. Namrood, trained by M Al Mheiri and ridden by Antonio Fresu, looks like a standout on paper and is expected to get us off to a winning start. Although he may be a short price, he’s 10 lbs clear of his rivals on ratings and the drop back to six furlongs should see him to best effect.

The second selection comes in the penultimate race of the evening, the Al Khail Trophy Presented by ARN. Wickywickywheels, trained by Bhupat Seemar and ridden by Irishman Tadhg O’Shea. The five-year-old won comfortably in Abu Dhabi last time but steps up to 1m6f this time. Following that success in Abu Dhabi, though, connections were adamant that an increased trip would suit, and she can continue the great run of form for the champion duo.

Check out Cathal’s preview below!

Selections:

8.55 – Al Khail Trophy Presented by ARN– Wickywickywheels
