Six Nations Preview: Round Five

March 18, 2023

The final weekend of the Six Nations is upon us, and Ireland look on track to secure the Grand Slam. If Ireland do happen to slip up against England, a French win by over 18 points will see them crowned champions.

Scotland v Italy
First up on Saturday are two teams on the bounce back from huge disappointment. Both sides have been solid all tournament and will be looking to finish their campaign on a high. It’s telling that Scotland are without Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell, but they’re still expected to edge this one.

Verdict: Scotland by less than 15 points

France v Wales
The last thing Wales need when they are low on confidence is a trip to Paris, and they travel to face a French side with their tails up. France blew away England last weekend, and they should do the same again today.

Verdict: France by over 20 points

Ireland v England
England surely can’t be as bad as they were last weekend and have picked a more defensively solid team. Ireland are in top form and should complete the Grand Slam, but England can produce a big performance here. It’s unlikely to be enough to spoil the party in Dublin, but they can push Ireland close.

Verdict: Ireland by less than 15 points
